Hello!
I'm Ms. Grace, a Speech-Language Pathologist. I am honored to hold a license to practice in the state of Hawaii. My commitment to collaboration lies at the heart of my sessions. Communication isn't just about words; it's about building connections, fostering trust and supporting functional goals to make every day a little more colorful. I welcome clients' and families' insights and triumphs as they are integral to the success of shared goals.
Educational Journey:
My journey began at New York University and CUNY where I earned a Bachelor in Studies in Disabilities, with a focus on Disability Law, and minored in Mental Health Sciences. Continuing my pursuit of knowledge, I obtained a Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology at Minnesota State University-Mankato. While serving as a Graduate Assistant to a Deaf Professor, Damian Folkner, I assisted in teaching college students by holding all office hours, collaborating on curriculum and grading all assignments.
Experience:
My passion lies in working on language skills in naturalistic settings. With over twelve years of experience as a private tutor targeting Literacy Goals in preparation for standardized exams, I assisted school-age children with various learning abilities prepare to perform, while working for the NYC Board of Ed as a Paraprofessional.
I've had the privilege of offering services in various settings including preschools, clinical environments, skilled nursing facilities and virtually held group programs. My expertise spans across the lifespan, from early intervention for toddlers for expressive language developmental delays, to autism, down syndrome, apraxia of speech and articulation/phonological disorders.
My graduate program had an emphasis in evaluating and treating individuals with Traumatic Brain Injuries, Aphasia and Dysarthria. I've received specialized training in SPEAKOUT! to serve those living with Parkinson's Disorder as well as Beckman Oral Motor Assessment and Intervention and FloorTime.
Personal Life:
With a passion for bridging the gap between parties, I have interpreted for Korean speakers and American Sign Language users. I'm always expanding my social circles to immerse myself in languages I love( Spanish included!). Dwelling in diversity fuels me, whether it's of a neurodivergent or linguistic nature.
The community in Hawaii holds a special place in my heart given similar values I grew up with in my community in New York such as malama, kokua and lauluma. I'm grateful to contribute to the well-being of revered seniors and the growth of keiki here.
We are excited to be working on organizing a regular, free-of-charge community voice program for seniors. Feel free to reach out for more information!
